The main goal of this study is to investigate the influence of the test item on wound healing in healthy pig or minipig.
Minipig, farm pig.
A full-thickness skin excision is performed with scalpel after shaving, cleaning and disinfecting the test area. The control, test and reference items are placed into the respective prepared wound areas (on the same pig) and the wounds are covered with sterile occlusion bandage, or kept uncovered, depending on the test item.
The wound control (wound characteristics and grade of wound healing) and photo documentation are performed on the day of wound setting, and thereafter regularly for a defined period. A histopathological evaluation with special focus on the healing process and skin characteristics is performed.
